Laboratory Services

To support my other services and better assess your health concerns, I also offer clients laboratory testing.  Lab tests are provided through Rocky Mountain Analytical, ZRT, Meridian Valley, and Genova Diagnostics – all certified labs.  Please note tests vary in cost depending on test being performed and are in addition to appointment fees.  Be sure to check with your individual insurance provider as some offer coverage for lab testing if it is ordered by a Naturopathic Doctor and completed by a certified lab.  Tests are completed using samples of either blood, saliva, or urine (or a combination of all three).  Most commonly recommended tests available include:

 Food Sensitivity Testing (+/- Candida):

Tired of trying to figure out what foods are making you feel unwell?  Food sensitivities can cause a variety of symptoms such as migraines, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, indigestion, fatigue, weight gain, and/or eczema – just to name a few!  This panel tests your IgG immune activity against 96 different foods.  Foods must be consumed within 2 weeks prior to having test to avoid false negative results.  However, if you have known severe allergies to certain foods (for instance, peanuts) do not ingest.  You may also be advised to investigate if candida overgrowth is the cause of your symptoms, which can easily be added to the food sensitivity testing.  For more information check out:

 Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis:

I often call this test the “Cadillac” of all the gastrointestinal tests.  It provides a comprehensive investigation of your digestive tract and gives detailed information regarding digestion, absorption, bacterial balance, and yeast overgrowth.  This is a very informative test for those that deal with

 Hormone Testing

o   Female Panel:  Hormonal imbalances can affect women of any age.  If you are still menstruating, concerns such as PMS, fibrocystic breasts, fibroids, PCOS, acne, and headaches, could all be the result of hormone imbalances.  For women in peri-menopause and menopause, investing your hormone levels can lead to more specific help for improving symptoms such as mood changes, ‘brain fog’, weight gain, disturbed sleep, changes in hair growth, vaginal dryness, and night sweats.  This panel covers a variety of important hormone players such as estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, and cortisol.  For more information download and read about Female Hormone Profiles.

o   Thyroid Panel:  Conventional medicine traditionally only tests for TSH when investigating thyroid health.  However, that is only a part of the overall picture.  I am happy to offer a complete profile, which investigates TSH, free T3, free T4, and thyroid antibodies.  In addition, there is an option to add investigation of elements that are crucial to healthy thyroid function such as iodine, bromine, and selenium.  This is an excellent panel for women especially who are suffering from mood and energy issues, and/or weight loss resistance.

o   Cortisol Testing for Adrenal Function:  With the pace of today’s society and the number of us that live in a high stress environment, investigating cortisol (our stress hormone) function is probably more pertinent than ever.  Normally, cortisol will naturally be highest in the morning and gradually taper in the evening.  Symptoms of cortisol imbalances can include:  tendancy to catch colds, fatigue, low libido, blood sugar dysregulation, and more.

Specialty Profiles:

  • Weight Management Profile:  A comprehensive profile that includes a look at hormones, such as reproductive hormones and insulin activity, as well as Vitamin D.  Many people will also include a thyroid panel for a greater picture as to why they are experiencing resistance to weight loss despite their greatest efforts.
  • Fertility Profile:  A comprehensive hormonal profile for those looking to expand their family.  Ideal for women with or without a history of infertility and/or miscarriage.
